It’s just you and you can be selfish! Solo travel is something everyone should try at some point in their life. But let’s be honest- it is not for everyone. It is a great way to get to know who you are as a person. Spending time with yourself away from any distractions it is not as bad as it sounds. Want to wake up at 5:30 and go for a surf? Go! No one is stopping you and you don’t need to wait for anyone. Hungry? So eat, now. Want to extend your stay somewhere? Why not? Go for it! I am the person who is always on time, so I am always waiting for people to show up. This is one of the best things when I am traveling solo. I don’t need to wait for anyone. When I decide to do something, I do it. Meeting people One of the benefits of solo travel is that it forces you to become independent, make decisions and step out of your comfort zone. You have nobody to rely on but yourself. Which can be scary at the beginning, but then you realise it is the best thing! I met the most people in the line up. You have plenty of time in between sets to chat and those are people who are interesting to me. We have the same hobby, so staring a conversation is easy. Only boring people get bored You quickly get used to eating alone to. I usually work on the computer or on my phone, while waiting for the food, so time flies. I am never really bored because if I don’t surf, I have plenty other things to do. Find you passion, explore around, take photos, enjoy life. Timer is your best friend If you want to capture some memories, timer on your camera is your best friend. It takes some time you get used to it, but don’t worry, you can do it! I also recommend to get a GoPro- it makes it so easy to take videos, photos also in the water.
